Background
The Australian Institute of Primary Care (AIPC) at La Trobe University led by Prof. Hal Swerissen have been successful in their bid to undertake the Statewide Evaluation of the CHIC Initiative. AIPC have recent experience in similar work having conducted the evaluation of the Victorian Primary Care Partnerships and evaluation framework for the Aboriginal Health Promotion and Chronic Care Partnerships. AIPC have a strong understanding of the primary health care sector and have recently worked on chronic disease initiatives, population health approaches for small rural health services, and the development of the evaluation framework for the Australian Better Health Initiative.
The complexity of the CHIC Initiative indicates that a mix of qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods will be required to address key evaluation questions.
AIPC will engage local stakeholders in consultation in the development of the evaluation framework to negotiate an appropriate mix of approaches to ensure that the evaluation aims and objectives of the CHIC Initiative are met.
AIPC will ensure the varied types of evaluation data are brought together to provide a comprehensive picture of what is being achieved by the CHIC Initiative as a whole, identifying any gaps in achievement, and enhancing understanding of major factors responsible for achievement of its goals and objectives.
